Document description: Can I use WorkOut to take two sets of measurements with the VICTOR?

The Wallac 1420/PerkinElmer 2030 manager imposes certain limitations on what can be setup, for example you cannot take kinetic measurements with one label followed by further kinetic measurements with a different label.

Dazdaq Solutions have developed an additional device driver to work around the VICTOR manager limitations. This module allows two separate sets of VICTOR measurements to be configured within one WorkOut protocol. These measurements are run one after another with the results combined into one results file. Follow the instructions below to download and install this module.

Installation instructions:

  1. Download the ZIP according to your WorkOut version:

    WorkOut 2.0

    WorkOut 2.5

  2. Ensure that WorkOut is not currently running.
  3. Unzip and copy the files to the WorkOut installation directory, typically C:\Program Files\Dazdaq\WorkOut 2.0 (or 2.5)
  4. From Start | Run enter the following (if using Windows 7 or Vista use an elevated command prompt):

    regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\Dazdaq\WorkOut 2.0\MultiH.dll"

    or

    regsvr32 "c:\Program Files\Dazdaq\WorkOut 2.5\MultiH.dll"

  5. Press return, a succeeded message box should be displayed.

Creating a protocol with linked measurements:
    1. From the WorkOut Organiser, select File | Options | Drivers and select DAQ Linker. From this point forward all new protocols will be created using the new module. To revert to the original VICTOR driver, return to this step and select VICTOR.
    2. Use a wizard to create the protocol as normal.
    3. On the Data Acquitision step press Create. Two VICTOR manager windows will be displayed in successtion to allow you to specify two separate sets of measurements.
    4. Start with the first set of measurements
    5. Close the VICTOR Manager Window
    6. A description message box will be displayed summarising the measurements
    7. Next create the second measurements
    8. Close the VICTOR Manager Window
    9. A description message box will be displayed summarising the measurements
    10. Continue setting up the protocol as required.

To revert back to creating conventional VICTOR measurements, select File | Options | Drivers and select VICTOR.
