Document description: How To: Extrapolate the Standard Curve Fit

Extrapolation with a standards curve is the process of calculating concentrations outside the range of the defined standards. This is possible for all fit methods and is useful when some of your samples are lower or higher than your range of standards.

Use the Range tab of the Standard Curve Fit transform to set the amount of extrapolation that you will allow.

For some fits extrapolation may simply not be possible, for example a four parameter fit may yield upper and lower asymptotes within the range of the standards making extrapolation impossible. See below for details of how extrapolatation works with the cubic spline.
