Document description: How To: Export Data to a text file
There are 3 different ways to setup an assay to export data to a text file. The method to use depends whether you have already created the protocol and if you have already taken some measurements.
i) When creating the assay protocol
If you do not have an assay protocol yet then when you create your assay protocol using one of the Assay Protocol wizards: Tick the Export Results to Text File option on the Post Analysis Options step of the New Assay Protocol wizards, press the Options… button to setup the export
ii) Edit the protocol
If you have already created the protocol then open the protocol for editing: In the Advanced quarter of the Edit Assay Protocol screen, select the Export tab and press Edit… Tick the Export Results to Text file option and press Options… and setup the text export parameters.
iii) Add a transform
If you have already taken measurements then you can add a transform to export the results to a text file:
- Open the results file
- Press Edit Transforms
- Press Create…
- Select the Matrix Export transform
- Setup the Matrix Export Properties.
- Press OK until you return to the main screen
- Press Recalculate
The first two methods setup a protocol which will export the results to a text file after the measurements have been taken or imported and the analysis is first calculated. The third method will export the results to a text file each time the results are calculated (i.e. when Recalculate is pressed)
In all three cases a macro can be used to specify the name and location of the resulting text file. The default filename macro is:
This means that a file will be created in your “My Results” folder named using the current time and date. You can of course use a fixed filename, for example, you could use:
This will store the results to the same file each time.
