How To: Setup Excel for transferring data to an Assay Protocol.

Follow these instructions to install the 12x8 Excel Add-In to allow you to automatically transfer data from Excel to an Assay Protocol.

  1. Download the XLA file from here and save it to your Excel AddIns folder, this is as follows:

    For Excel XP(2002) on Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns 

    (Change UserName to your Windows username)

    Note, the Application Directory may not appear in Explorer if it is setup to not show hidden files and folders.  In this case, type the full path in as it appears.

    Excel 2000 on Windows 98: C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns

    Excel 97 on Windows 98: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Library

  2. Download the example Assay Protocol file from here and save it to your: My Documents\My Assays\Protocols folder.
  3. Now launch Excel, from Tools | Add-ins… select Browse…  select the Manta12x8Import.xla file and press OK.

Now each time you load Excel the Manta12x8Import Add-In will be available.
