How does WorkOut calculate the Integral/area under the kinetic chart?

Document ID: DQ147 Relevant to following products: WorkOut 1.5 WorkOut 2.0 Document description: How does WorkOut calculate the Integral/area under the kinetic chart?

WorkOut 1.5 and WorkOut 2.0 use different transforms to calculate the integral:

In WorkOut 1.5 the Point to Point Integral kinetic reduction method can be used.

In WorkOut 2.0 the Integral transform can be used with the trapezia area. WorkOut 2.0 displays the calculated trapezia in red in the Analysis tab.

In both cases WorkOut calculates the area under the curve by summing the area of the trapezia under the point-to-point chart (of the unflagged points).

In the area calculation WorkOut uses the time values, so that areas are still calculated around flagged kinetic points. For example if you had 3 kinetic points and flagged the middle, the area would be calculated using the first and third points.
